University of Miami – SALSA – Case Study
As a Tier-1 globally recognized research institution, the University of Miami’s Developmental Psychology Department utilized SDSol’s early learning expertise to develop a data system used to assess children’s cognition in a range of subject domains. Several assessments were developed, chiefly an adaptive test, which as its name indicates changes the difficulty of posed problems based on each child’s response pattern and knowledge of the subject domain. Based on a child’s progress, tracked trough a unique variable, new and more or less difficult material is presented. This system, allows UM to accurately measure the learning capacity as well as the level of competency of a wide array of children, comparatively, to find areas where they are lacking and allow them to best help improve and move forward in their schooling.
